A Summer Reset: A Pause That Reminds Me Why

...Staying Steady for the Work Ahead

I know it’s been a while since I’ve blogged. I’ll admit I’m not the best at keeping up with social media — including my blog — and I don’t mind being reminded to keep up with it, so thank you to the friends that nudge me forward!

I took a little time in July to breathe, enjoy some warm summer air, and reset.

Through the last seven months of 2026, we’ve worked through several estates and circumstances that were like no other in more ways than we can explain — and that’s what’s so fascinating about what I do. No situation is ever the same, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.

Many times, situations are not ideal for those we’re helping, but we’re always working toward the best solution for our client — and I say it most often: it’s about closure.

Whether it’s having to downsize into a senior community or the tragic and untimely death of a loved one, having someone in your corner who’s advocating for what you need, want, or what’s in your best interests is invaluable.

Taking time away in July reminded me of how proud I am of the work we do advocating for people and families in whatever they’re facing, but it also reminded me of how hard it can be to be an advocate.

We take on a lot, and that’s why it’s a good reminder that when the world gets heavy, it’s okay to take time for yourself — breathe and ground yourself in who you are. Because if you’re not grounded, how can you help ground others?

Smell the flowers, enjoy those moments where you can feel the wind blow, pet and cuddle your animals — be you so you can be the best you for those around you.

It’s not about being broken, overwhelmed, or exhausted — it’s about not getting to the point where you are broken and exhausted. So it’s okay to take a break before you break, the reflection you face in those moments helps to remind you of who you are and where you want to be.

My team and I do, so we can be the best versions of ourselves as we help those around us. If you feel like you need time — whatever that looks like for you — remember, you deserve it.

This is not the last time I’m taking this year, but I’ll admit, I’m really looking forward to everything coming up. We’ve got several estate sales scheduled heading through the season and into autumn. It’s nice feeling refreshed and ready for whatever’s next.

Reflections at the Threshold of Thanksgiving

As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, we find ourselves pausing — not just to catch our breath between sales, but to reflect on the homes we’ve entered, the lives we’ve glimpsed, and the quiet passage of time that runs through it all.

Each estate we serve is more than a collection of belongings. It’s a layered story. A timeline. A lived-in archive of choices, comforts, and connections. We see it in the way a bookshelf is arranged, in the wear on a favorite chair, in the garden tools tucked neatly into a shed. These objects aren’t just useful or decorative — they’re echoes of care, of routine, of joy. They remind us that time leaves traces, and that those traces matter.

This season, we’ve had the privilege of hosting several beautiful sales, each one distinct in tone and texture. Some homes felt like time capsules, others like fresh starts. But all of them held something meaningful — not just for the families we worked with, but for the shoppers who came looking for something that resonated. A lamp that reminded them of their grandmother’s house. A set of dishes that felt just right for their holiday table. A garden tool that fit perfectly in their hand.

We still have two more estate sales scheduled before the year winds down, and we’re looking forward to ending 2025 with the same care and intention that’s guided us all year. Whether you’re browsing for something special, preparing your home for guests, or simply soaking in the spirit of the season, we hope this time brings you peace, inspiration, and a sense of belonging.

As we move through the holidays — whatever they look like for you — we hope you’ll find time to pause, breathe, and appreciate the people around you. It’s easy to rush through the season, to get swept up in plans and lists and the ticking clock of another year. But the real treasures aren’t things — they’re moments. A shared meal. A quiet laugh. A seat at the table with someone you love. Time together is what we truly have, and what we most need to hold dear.

Wishing you a warm, joyful, and well-fed Thanksgiving — and a season filled with presence, memory, and the kind of light that comes from being truly together.

Confronting What’s Taking Over:

It’s time to confront what’s happening.

This isn’t about giving up, giving in, or admitting defeat.

It’s about mitigating damage and reclaiming control.

You have every right to stand up for yourself, especially when injustice or inequality is being exploited. But when the situation begins to dictate your happiness, your home, your sense of well-being—when it starts to shape how you live your life—something has to shift. You stop the bleeding where you can.

As a rebel myself, I know how painful it can feel to comply with an order that’s clearly a misinterpretation—an overreach by an entity acting out of discrimination or opportunism. But sometimes, compliance is the only way to take back control of the situation.

This isn’t surrender. It’s a chance to move forward. Whether that means continuing to fight through legal channels, settling, or complying to lighten the load, the goal is the same: to move into a future where you’re no longer carrying the weight of this moment on your shoulders.

Staying frozen in place creates a vacuum—one where the situation can spiral. Avoidance only leads to deeper consequences over time.

You may need to consider that compliance is the only actionable step left to protect yourself and move forward. It doesn’t mean you’re admitting wrongdoing, liability, or guilt. It means you’re choosing to act—choosing to prioritize your life, your peace, and your future.

At this point, it’s not about right or wrong, ownership or accountability. It’s about getting to the other side of this issue so it’s behind you, no longer in front of you.

Postponing your obligation to face it harms your credibility and your ability to advocate for yourself. Compliance doesn’t take away your freedom—it stabilizes your foundation so your house stands another day.

No matter what you choose, time moves forward—and eventually, the issue will meet you there so remember, facing the issue is not surrender—it’s a strategic act of reclaiming control.

Whatever surfaced while reading this, you’ve got what it takes to move through it. Now’s the time to follow through. So today, I encourage you to face it. Don’t let it linger. Big, bad, or ugly—meet it head-on, so you can finally move forward—
